FACT CHECK: Ashley Hinson Launches Desperate Ad to Try and Hide Stock Ownership

Reality: Hinson’s own PFD reports up to $5 million in insurance stock, which she made as much as $1 million off of last year alone

DES MOINES, IA — Today, Ashley Hinson released a desperate ad attempting to hide her ownership of up to $5 million in insurance stock — which made her as much as $1 million richer last year alone.

What’s worse: She selectively edits a local KCRG fact check to further confuse Iowans. The line immediately after the clip in Hinson’s shady ad continues, “But there is a catch worth noting: Her disclosure filed last month shows Hinson’s family owns between $1 million and $5 million in private stock in High Street Insurance Partners.”

Here’s the truth:

Even richer (although not as much as Hinson herself): Although Hinson touts her role in passing a Congressional stock trading ban, as KCRG’s fact check reports, “Critics say the bill would be ineffective because it includes exemptions for stocks members owned before taking office and for private stock, like the stock Hinson’s husband owns.”

“A desperate ad won’t change the fact that Ashley Hinson is a multi-millionaire who owns up to $5 million in insurance stock and has spent her time in Washington selling out Iowans to make herself richer. Unlike Ashley Hinson, Josh Turek is not a millionaire, doesn’t own any stock, doesn’t accept corporate PAC money, and will always fight for Iowa and Iowans,” said Josh Turek for Iowa spokesperson Hannah Goss. “Iowans know that Hinson is a corrupt D.C. politician who only looks out for herself, and that’s exactly why they’ll reject her in 33 days.”

Last week, the Josh Turek for Iowa campaign released “C’mon,” which uses Ashley Hinson’s own words to spotlight her longstanding record of corrupt self dealing in D.C. — all while her net worth increased by up to 15 times thanks to up to $5 million in insurance stock that she “lied about owning.” Earlier today, the Josh Turek for Iowa campaign released “Change,” which spotlights how Ashley Hinson got richer and championed legislation that “benefits her own family fortune” while voting seven times for a war that is raising costs on everything for Iowans.
