Grassroots energy and enthusiasm fuels Josh Turek’s 2025 fundraising haul

Following a record-breaking first quarter, the campaign continued building support from working class Iowans

Des Moines, IA – Today, two-time Paralympic gold medalist and Iowa State Representative Josh Turek announced he finished 2025 having received contributions from nearly 40,000 individuals. The last to enter the Democratic primary, Josh raised $1.67 million in just 142 days, with an average of $11,000 in the door per day. 

After smashing a record for the most money raised by a first-time Democratic Senate candidate in their opening quarter in Iowa history, Josh continued strong fundraising in his second quarter in the race by raising more than $675,000 in small-dollar grassroots donations. 

This grassroots campaign is for Iowa and Iowans, not billionaires or corporations: 

• The average donation is $31. 
• Donations come from 38,200 donors, with donors in all of Iowa’s 99 counties. 
• The campaign brought on an average of 269 new donors each day.  
• 45% of total donations came from individual donors giving less than $200. 
• 218 educators, 274 health care professionals, and 42 agriculture workers in Iowa have donated to this campaign. 
• 0 donations from corporate PACs. 

“Josh Turek has shown he has the widespread support needed to win this primary and take on Ashley Hinson in November,” said campaign manager Brendan Koch. “Donations came in from the working class Iowans that Josh is committed to representing: machinists in Madrid, firefighters in Coralville, students in Sioux City, waitresses in Anamosa, pipefitters in Davenport, line cooks in Charles City, teachers, truck drivers, and nurses from across the state. They know as the only one in this primary who has even run against a Republican, Josh is the best shot we have at keeping Ashley Hinson out of the U.S. Senate.”
