ICYMI: “Ashley Hinson, Who Said Millennials are ‘Bad at Saving,’ Lived in a Half Million Dollar House Her Parents Bought Her in L.A.”
Hinson is – and always has been – an out of touch Washington politician
DES MOINES — New reporting today on the million-dollar Hollywood home that Ashley Hinson’s parents bought her while she attended college in California makes clear that she is – and always has been – an out of touch politician who does not understand what Iowans are going through.
What we already knew: Ashley Hinson is a multimillionaire who lied to Iowans about selling her stock and quietly holds up to $5 million in insurance stock – all while voting to rip away healthcare from 110,000 Iowans, hike healthcare premiums on 119,000 Iowans, support tariffs that are devastating farmers and driving up costs, and continue the war in Iran that is driving up gas and diesel prices for Iowans.
Now, we know that: “Ashley Hinson’s parents bought her a house in Hollywood for her to live in while she attended USC, then sold the house after she graduated for a half million dollars.”
Key context: Hinson had the audacity to use the first U.S. Senate debate to “slam the savings habits of millennials,” condemning those “who couldn’t afford to save for the future.”
More on Hinson’s out-of-touch past: “Hinson’s high school friends said growing up Hinson was ‘one of the richest kids in school.’ When they visited her in L.A. they said she drove luxury cars, and would yell at bouncers for not letting her in clubs with a fake I.D.”
“Everywhere I go, I hear the same thing: Iowans are struggling right now, and they deserve a Senator who understands that struggle and is laser-focused on lowering costs. I know that struggle, because I’ve lived it – we went to the Goodwill for clothes and relied on free summer lunch. Not only does Ashley Hinson not understand that struggle – she has only made it worse with her votes to drive up the cost of gas, groceries, healthcare, and more. In the U.S. Senate, I will work with anyone to raise wages, drive down costs, and ensure that all Iowans can afford to thrive.”
