ICYMI: Josh Turek Calls Out Ashley Hinson’s Hypocrisy on Stock Trading Ban, Self-Enrichment

Hinson refused to support a ban on Members of Congress from owning and trading stocks and currently holds up to $5M in insurance stock

Des Moines, IA – In the two weeks since the general election began, Josh Turek has repeatedly held Ashley Hinson accountable for her hypocrisy on banning congressional stock trading and record of self-enrichment.

Reporting from earlier this month revealed that Hinson quietly holds up to $5 million in insurance company stock, undermining her disingenuous campaign promise to ban congressional stock trading and previous promise to sell her stock. Thanks to her “massive private portfolio,” Hinson’s net worth “quietly skyrocketed by up to 10 times” since she got to Congress in 2021. What’s more: When Hinson had the chance to take action, she refused to support a ban on Members of Congress and their families from owning and trading stocks.

While Hinson works to hide her record of corrupt self-enrichment, Josh is making sure Iowans know the truth.

Missed it? See below for the highlights.

The Warning with Steve Schmidt: “[Hinson], in her time in D.C. – and it’s not been that long, only been there 6 years – is up to 10 times more wealthy. She has up to $5 million in insurance stock, still. She had initially promised she was going to sell her stock. She initially did not support making a ban on members of Congress and their families from owning and trading stocks. This is not what we need.”

American Conversations with Heather Cox Richardson: “My opponent Ashley Hinson in 6 years, in her time in Congress, is now up to 10 ten times more wealthy, owns up to $5 million in insurance stock, is taking millions of dollars of corporate PAC money, particularly from pharmaceuticals and insurance, which is why we see nothing getting done on health care reform.”

The Katie Phang Show: “And in her time in DC, she’s become 10 times more wealthy and initially didn’t support a ban on stock trading. She’s got $5 million in stocks. She’s taken millions of dollars in corporate PAC money, including from the pharmaceutical industry, and the insurance industry, and she has just looked out for the billionaires, for the large corporations. And Iowans have been left behind, and they’re ready for someone like me that’s going to actually go out there and fight for them, for our workers, and for the middle class that is being hollowed out.”

The Hopium Chronicles: “She has become up to 10 times more wealthy just in 6 years, in her time in D.C., said she was going to sell her stock, owns up to $5 million of insurance stock still, has taken millions of dollars in corporate PAC money, hundreds of thousands from the pharmaceutical industry, from the insurance industry. […] And Iowans are upset, and most recently [she] even flew back the day after the primary on a first class flight to get back to D.C. to vote against the War Powers Act.”
