  • Democratic Senate candidate Josh Turek was also on the campaign trail today, picking up a new endorsement.
  • “We want to make sure that every single American kid, but every single child from Iowa has access to a world-class education. You shouldn’t have to win the genetic lottery to have access to a world-class education in this country. Urban or rural, rich or poor, every single kid deserves a world-class education.”
  • The Iowa State Education Association is supporting Turek to replace Joni Ernst in the Senate.

KCCI: Turek delivers keynote speech

  • Turek talked about his plans for Iowa’s public schools. He was the keynote speaker at the Iowa State Education Association’s summer leadership conference.
  • He says Iowa needs to prioritize public education, arguing public funds should stay in public schools rather than vouchers.
  • Turek believes it could bring more people to our state.
  • “Families were moving here because they wanted to be educated. This is certainly one of the very best places that we can start: prioritizing our public education and our post-secondary education. If we do that, young people will come here, put down roots and want to stay here.”
