ICYMI: National GOP Panicking Over IA-SEN, Beg for More Money for Vulnerable Ashley Hinson

After multiple polls show Hinson trailing, Republican super PAC begs for more investment while Hinson attempts to rewrite her support for the Iran war

Des Moines, IA – Today, a leaked memo from top GOP super PAC Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) made clear that National Republicans are highly concerned about Ashley Hinson’s chances of winning Iowa’s U.S. Senate race, begging their donors for millions more in funding to save a flailing Hinson. 

Notable: In the memo, SLF cited Josh’s positive image as reason for concern, understandable given Hinson’s underwater favorabilities as Iowans continue to hear about how she “fought for a tax break that benefits her own fortune,” “lied about owning stock,” used campaign funds on “lavish vacations to some of the most exclusive luxury resorts in the U.S.,” and increased her wealth by up to fifteen times since being elected.  

They’re not alone: Additional Hinson Republican allies are also sounding the alarm amidst “growing fears that the race is too close for such a red state.”

Concern among Hinson allies comes after three polls showed Josh Turek leading Hinson by 4+ points. 

Also this week: Hinson, too, made clear that she knows she’s in trouble. Days after Josh announced his multi-pronged plan to lower fuel prices for Iowa’s farmers and families, Hinson followed his lead to support his policy proposals, despite spending the last several months voting seven times to continue the war and doing nothing to address the rising fuel costs that came with it. 

Just last week, Hinson voted for a seventh time to continue the war in Iran – even as two of her Iowa Republican colleagues crossed the aisle to say enough is enough. Afterwards, Hinson recessed early and left Washington until after Election Day with no solutions to bring down costs for Iowans. Hinson has repeatedly supported this reckless war, including after privately admitting the war was a “political liability.” She doubled down on her support of the Iran War, saying it is “certainly not the first thing [Iowans] bring up” and claiming the war “is out of sight, out of mind for so many Americans.” 

Zoom out: Hinson, the least bipartisan member of the Iowa Congressional delegation is desperately trying to rewrite her record, skipping VP Vance’s Council Bluffs event and running a desperate new ad trying to hide her lack of bipartisanship. In contrast, Josh Turek has been ranked one of Iowa’s most effective and bipartisan lawmakers, voting with Republicans more than 700 times to cut taxes, lower costs, and keep Iowans safe.

The bottom line: With 43 days until Election Day, Ashley Hinson and her GOP super PAC allies are flailing because they know Josh Turek has momentum at his back in Iowa and is building a coalition to win.
