Josh Turek on Governor Reynolds’ State of the State Address Turek slams Reynolds for a state in decline, calls for a focus on working class Iowans
Des Moines, IA – Today, Governor Reynolds will give her state of the state address. Her legacy includes one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, a disastrous school voucher program, and attacks on workers’ rights and collective bargaining.
America’s most unpopular governor probably won’t mention in her speech that:
- Iowa is one of only two states to have its economy decline in 2024.
- Iowa is leading the nation in farm foreclosures.
- Iowa is the only state with a growing cancer rate.
- Iowa has had 31 rural hospitals, nursing homes, and skilled nursing facilities close due to Republican attacks on health care.
Politicians in Des Moines and in Washington are selling out hard working folks in favor of billionaires and large corporations. Governor Reynolds’ good friend Ashley Hinson – endorsed by Joni “we’re all going to die” Ernst – is just more of the same.
“After spending months traveling across this state and talking to Iowans, I can tell you that Iowa is in trouble, and Iowans are hurting. I’m running for Senate because I know what it takes to win tough races and because it’s time we once again have a Senator who is fighting for the people, not just billionaire donors and corporations.
While Ashley Hinson is more concerned with growing her personal wealth in Washington, I won’t forget who sent me there and I’ll spend every day fighting to bring down costs and make life better for Iowans,” said state representative and four time Paralympian Josh Turek.
