Josh Turek Responds to President Trump’s Visit to Iowa

Des Moines, IA – Four-time Paralympian and State Representative Josh Turek released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s address in Clive, Iowa:

“Everywhere I go, Iowans can’t afford to put food on the table or keep a roof over their head. It’s the rural communities that are hurting most: our farmers are losing their family farms; grocery stores, pharmacies, and schools continue to close; and rural Iowans have little-to-no access to health care. While Ashley Hinson continues to be a rubber stamp on policies that hurt the working class, I’m focused on bringing down costs, protecting our rural communities, and making life better for Iowans.”

President Trump’s visit to Iowa is evidence that Republicans are worried about their hold here. Republican IEs are already spending big behind Ashley Hinson, because they know that Iowa’s Senate race will be competitive.

Iowans across the state are struggling under an unpopular GOP agenda. The reality of Iowa’s economy today:

  • 50th in economic growth.
  • Leading the nation in farm foreclosures, a direct result of Trump’s chaotic tariff war.
  • One of only two states to be in economic decline in 2024.
  • Since the start of the year, nearly 118,000 Iowans have seen their insurance costs skyrocket with the loss of ACA subsidies.
  • John Deere has laid off nearly 2,000 workers across Iowa in the last two years.
