Des Moines, IA – Today, Josh Turek for Iowa released its first statewide television ad of the Iowa Senate Democratic primary: “Push.” The new spot features Josh Turek talking about the ways Washington is failing Iowans, including Trump’s Medicaid cuts, chaotic tariffs, and attacks on our fundamental rights.

The campaign will run the ad statewide across all platforms including television, streaming, and digital to communicate with Iowans in every corner of the state.

“Iowans feel like they’re pushing uphill, and I know exactly what that feels like. Because it’s working class families like mine paying the price for Trump’s war and Washington’s corruption,” said Josh in the ad. “In the Senate, I’ll take on Trump, and no one will push harder for change.”

Born with spina bifida as a result of his father’s exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam, Josh Turek underwent 21 surgeries before the age of 12, going on to represent the USA at four Paralympic games and ending his career with back-to-back gold medals. He grew up in a working class family in Council Bluffs, Iowa that went to the Goodwill for their clothes and relied on free summer lunch programs. Josh is a common sense prairie populist who is laser-focused on bringing down costs and addressing the corruption in Washington so working class Iowans don’t have to feel like they are constantly pushing uphill. 

Today’s ad launch builds on unmatched momentum for Josh in the Democratic Senate primary. Fundraising reports from the first quarter of 2026 made clear that Josh’s unrivaled grassroots momentum helped him outraise his primary opponent, just as he has done since entering the race last summer. More than 70 Iowa leaders have endorsed Josh, including two of his previous primary opponents who dropped out and immediately joined Team Turek. Since launch, Josh has criss-crossed Iowa nonstop, covering more than 20,000 miles and hitting 250+ events in over 60 counties.
