Josh Turek Slams Ashley Hinson for Blocking Access to Affordable Health Care
Hinson voted to allow premiums to skyrocket for over a hundred thousand Iowans
Council Bluffs, IA – Ashley Hinson has once again voted against affordable health care for Iowans, the latest reminder that she just does not care about lowering costs for hardworking Iowans. Voting to kick 110,000 Iowans off Medicaid wasn’t enough for Rep. Hinson, and now she’s voted for another 24,000 Iowans to lose health insurance. Since the start of the year, as many as 117,890 have seen their insurance costs increase by an average of 97% – $1,080 annually.
“Everywhere I go in Iowa, people are worried about being able to afford their health care. While Ashley Hinson has been in Washington, the only things that have gone up are health care costs, Iowa’s cancer rate, and her own personal wealth. Hinson and Washington Republicans are more focused on “running” a foreign country than lowering costs for working Iowans.
I believe health care is a human right, and I know firsthand the importance of affordable health care. When I’m in Washington, I’ll never stop fighting to ensure every Iowan is able to get the care they need,” said state representative and four time Paralympian Josh Turek.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been a lifeblood for rural communities, where more than one in four farmers relies on the ACA for health care. Nationally, rates of uninsured rural Americans have been cut in half since 2010, largely due to ACA tax credits.
