Josh Turek Slams Ashley Hinson for Silence on Argentina Beef Deal Hurting Iowa Cattle Farmers
This week, Turek visited an Iowa cattle farm while Ashley Hinson hosted a Big Pharma fundraiser in D.C.
Council Bluffs, IA – Iowa cattle farmers are sounding the alarm that a new beef deal with Argentina would decimate rural communities further. The plan to buy beef from Argentina farms will kick Iowa farmers while they’re down and already struggling with corn and soybeans income at the lowest level in the last 15 years.
Despite pleas from the Iowa Farm Bureau for Iowa lawmakers to oppose the deal, Rep. Ashley Hinson has stayed silent, dodging questions from the press even though Iowa’s 25,000 cattle farmers will suffer from the deal. In fact, while Josh Turek was visiting a cattle farm this week, Hinson was rubbing shoulders with Big Pharma executives and lobbyists at a D.C. fundraiser.
“Cattle farmers are shouting from the rooftops that this Argentina beef deal is going to crush their business, but Ashley Hinson is rubbing shoulders with Big Pharma in D.C. instead of fighting for Iowa’s agriculture industry,” said Turek. “We’ve already lost more than half of our family farms and are heading towards a 1980s-level farm crisis. Hinson’s silence on this critical issue is disqualifying.”
Although other farm state Republicans have advocated for their constituents and expressed their concern over the impacts of this deal to rural communities, Ashley Hinson has stayed silent.
