NEW: Josh Turek for Iowa Releases Closing Ads of the Senate Race in Iowa
In the new spots, Josh outlines the pain a corrupt Ashley Hinson has caused Iowa and reiterates his commitment to fighting for everyday families like his
Des Moines, IA – Today, the Josh Turek for Iowa campaign released its closing ads of the election: “That’s It” and “Living Proof.” The spots highlight the hurt Iowans are feeling as a direct result of corrupt Ashley Hinson’s votes to continue the Iran War, rip away healthcare coverage, and raise insurance premiums on Iowans.
A multi-millionaire, Ashley Hinson has gotten up to 15x wealthier while repeatedly voting to raise prices on Iowans to enrich herself and her donors. Unlike Hinson, Josh is not a millionaire, and he is laser-focused on lowering fuel and healthcare prices because he knows it’s working class families like his that are paying the price of Washington’s corruption.
“That’s It” spotlights Iowa’s skyrocketing gas prices – a direct result of Ashley Hinson’s seven votes to continue the war in Iran. While Iowa families have paid an average of $860 more in gas since the war began, Hinson has repeatedly downplayed the harm it has caused, calling it “out of sight, out of mind.” Hinson’s Big Oil donors, however, are making record profits and have given her more than $62,000, including $20,000 in contributions after her seventh vote to continue the conflict.
“We’re paying almost double what we did just a few months ago. And diesel is at an all-time high, hitting our farmers at the worst possible time,” says Josh in the ad. “Ashley Hinson has voted over and over for policies that have jacked up prices, while she gets richer and richer. I approved this message because unlike Ashley, I’m not a millionaire. I’ll work to lower prices because it matters to me too.”

In the second ad, “Living Proof,” Josh speaks directly to Iowans about his sister, Ulette, who is fighting breast cancer and her insurance company after they refused to cover a PET scan to determine if her cancer had spread. Ashley Hinson has repeatedly voted to rip health care away from 110,000 Iowans, hike healthcare premiums for 119,000 Iowans, and against capping the cost of prescription drugs – all while taking more than $600,000 from the pharmaceutical and health care industries. In the U.S. Senate, Josh will fight so that doctors decide care, not insurance companies because to him, fixing our broken healthcare system is personal.
“This is my sister, Ulette. Like too many Iowans, she’s fighting cancer. She’s also fighting her insurance company after they denied a scan to see if the cancer had spread,” says Josh in the ad. “In the Senate, I’ll fight to ensure that doctors decide care - not insurance companies. And I’ll take on corrupt politicians that get in the way.”

The Josh Turek for Iowa campaign has been blanketing screens across Iowa for months. The campaign started the general election running “USA,” a spot that features Josh speaking directly to Iowans about his lifelong commitment to putting country over party, followed by “Prove It,” which highlights the more than 700 times Josh voted with Iowa Republicans.
The campaign also released “Went Through Hell,” “Underdog,” and “Goodwill” which highlight Josh’s persistent fight in the face of adversity and his working-class upbringing; “C’mon,” and “Change” which spotlight Ashley Hinson’s longstanding record of corrupt self-dealing in Washington; “Getting Hammered,” which spotlights the impact of record-high diesel prices on Iowa farmers, and “Richer” which features Rich, a registered Iowa Republican and Hinson constituent, speaking about why he will be crossing the aisle to support Josh this year.
