Des Moines, IA – In response to new reporting by the Des Moines Register that thousands of Iowans will likely see their health insurance premiums rise next year, U.S. Senate Candidate Josh Turek released the following statement:

“For a second year in a row, Iowans will face rising health care premiums because of Ashley Hinson. Time and again, she has made clear that she would rather give tax breaks to billionaires than make sure Iowans can afford to see their doctor. I know firsthand the importance of affordable health care, which is why, as Iowa’s next U.S. Senator, I’ll never stop fighting to ensure every Iowan is able to get the care they need, and will work tirelessly to ensure every Iowan has access to affordable health care.”

According to the Des Moines Register, next year will be “the second straight year where some Iowans see double-digit premium hikes — the result of expired expanded Affordable Care Act subsidies and rising medical costs.” In Congress, Ashley Hinson has repeatedly voted against extending the ACA tax credits, increasing the cost of healthcare for more than 100,000 Iowans.
