On Dobbs Anniversary, Josh Turek Slams Hinson for Her Record of Ripping Away Iowans’ Reproductive Freedom
On the anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Josh is holding Hinson accountable for her anti-choice record
Des Moines, IA – Today, on the anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade and paved the way for Iowa’s extreme near-total abortion ban, Josh Turek called out Ashley Hinson for her record of ripping away Iowa women’s right to make their own healthcare decisions.
“I believe health care is a human right, and that includes reproductive health care. Ashley Hinson has repeatedly cosponsored a total abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother, despite the fact that the 93% of Iowans think that’s too extreme. She does not represent Iowa’s values, and is only worsening our OBGYN shortage. As Iowa’s next U.S. Senator, I will do everything I can to restore Roe v. Wade so every woman has access to the care they need,” said Josh Turek.
Ashley Hinson has repeatedly co-sponsored a national abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother – a proposal that 93% of Iowans say goes too far. Hinson signed the amicus brief urging the United States Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, supported punishing doctors for providing care, and voted against the Right to Contraception Act, which would protect the right to birth control nationwide.
