RECAP: Josh Turek Barnstormed Northwest and Northcentral Iowa As He Continues 99 County Tour

Josh is continuing his “go everywhere” strategy to meet voters across Iowa

Des Moines, IA – This week, U.S. Senate candidate and Paralympian Josh Turek continued his 99-county tour through Northwest and North Central Iowa. As part of his “go everywhere” strategy, Josh made stops in Ida, Cherokee, Lyon, Osceola, Emmet, Hancock, and Winnebago counties. During the trip, Josh met with local leaders, small business owners, and families to hear directly about the challenges facing rural Iowa communities.

Josh’s first stop of the tour was to Ida County, where he toured PORT-A-HUT Farm Shelters in Ida Grove and spoke to the owner about the harmful impact of rising costs due to tariffs on his business. Josh also spoke with City Council members about infrastructure challenges in Ida Grove.

Josh then toured RJ Thomas Manufacturing in Cherokee County, where Josh and the 3rd generation owner of RJ Thomas, discussed how rising costs are hurting his business, including skyrocketing utility bills and health care.

The next stop of the day was to Rock Rapids in Lyon County where Josh met with local mayors and community leaders. The group discussed the challenges facing small towns in Iowa, including access to health care.

Josh then met with a group of Iowans at Hawkeye Point, Iowa’s highest Point of Elevation located in Osceola County. There, Josh heard from folks about Iowa’s cancer crisis and reiterated his commitment to putting guardrails on insurance companies so that doctors are deciding care, not insurance companies.

Josh’s last stop on Tuesday was headlining the Summer Sizzler in Dickinson County, where he spoke to hundreds of Iowans about the opportunity we have this year to elect a working class champion to the U.S. Senate.

On Wednesday, Josh’s first stop was to the VFW in Estherville, where he met with community leaders to talk about issues including protecting Social Security and addressing rising insurance costs.

Next up, Josh made a stop in Winnebago County to meet with city council members and law enforcement officers. Over coffee at The Daily Grind, Josh spoke with locals about the impact of rising gas prices and worsening access to health care.

Josh’s last stop of the day was to the Britt Food Center, a locally-owned grocery store in Hancock County where Josh met with the owners to discuss the importance of independent grocery stores to communities like Britt and how rising costs on essentials including meat and produce are impacting their margins.

Over the next 82 days, Josh will continue traveling to every part of Iowa to speak directly with Iowans across the political spectrum about his plan to lower costs and clean up a broken Washington that is benefiting corrupt, self-interested politicians at the expense of everyday families. As Josh continues his “go everywhere” approach to meet Iowans where they are, Ashley Hinson has not held a single in-person town hall since she launched her Senate campaign.
