RECAP: Josh Turek Launches Statewide “Team Iowa Tour” in Cedar Rapids

Josh was joined by supporters, including a farmer, veteran, and registered Republican, who are all backing him instead of their own Congresswoman

Cedar Rapids, IA – Today, Josh Turek officially launched his “Team Iowa Tour” in the heart of Ashley Hinson’s Congressional District, flanked by supporters who represent the wide spectrum of Iowans he will represent in the U.S. Senate.

Supporters pointed to Josh’s working class roots, bipartisan approach, and commitment to making life better for Iowans as reasons they support him over Ashley Hinson.

“Josh has already shown his commitment to fighting for rural Iowa,” said Berleen Wobeter, farmer from Tama. “He fought to pass Right to Repair to give farmers the power to fix our own equipment. He’s fought for Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling so Iowa’s beef producers can compete – something I’ve repeatedly asked Ashley Hinson about, but she’s never had an answer. Farmers need Josh Turek. He will always look out for us, he’s on our team.”

“I’ve been a Republican most of my life because I believed that we must have a solid economy to be able to help those that need it. Ashley Hinson has voted over and over again to cut taxes for billionaires while raising the national debt and hiking costs on Iowans. Don’t let the R and D labels define our choices. I encourage ALL Iowans to give Josh a fair shake. He’s exactly who we need in the Senate,” said Byron Tabor, Registered Republican.

“Josh understands that a strong national defense is more than slogans and campaign commercials. It requires sound judgement, independent thinking, and the courage to ask hard questions. Josh understands that real leadership means asking those hard questions, demanding accountability, and making decisions that strengthen America’s security while protecting the men and women who wear the uniform,” said Kevin Techau, former Iowa Commissioner of Public Safety, Former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, and Iowa National Air Guard and United States Air Force Veteran.

“Over the years, I’ve met countless elected officials and candidates. I’ve learned that accomplishments matter, experience matters, and policy certainly matters, but character matters most. That is why I can stand before you today and say with complete confidence that Josh Turek is a person of integrity. I believe that if we entrust him with representing Iowa in Washington, he will remain true to his principles, keep his word, and never forget the people who put their faith in him,” said Rick Moyle, President of Iowa State Council of Machinists, Executive Director of Hawkeye Area Labor Council.

“We are in a state with a health care crisis, and for so many Iowans, health care access is what keeps us up at night. For my sister, Medicaid was not waste, fraud, and abuse, it was lifesaving. Josh understands that struggle better than most. He knows firsthand how important it is to have access to quality healthcare,” said Michele Steepleton, retired teacher and caretaker for her sister who relies on Medicaid.

Josh reaffirmed his commitment to being a Senator for all Iowans, welcoming Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to join his campaign.

“When I dragged my wheelchair up steps to knock on my neighbors’ doors, I found that Republicans, Independents, and Democrats all see that our health care system is broken, that costs are too high, and that we have to put an end to the corruption we’re seeing at all levels of government. If we can come together and recognize that we are all getting screwed by the same system, we can end the corruption that’s just lining the pockets of the 1% and we can once again have an economy that works for all of us. I pledge to put you first, not the billionaires, the large corporations, the donors, or the lobbyists. I promise to be on Team Iowa, always,” said Josh Turek.

The Team Iowa Tour is a statewide summer tour that includes dozens of stops from river to river as Josh continues the “go everywhere” strategy that he has become known for. Josh will meet Iowans where they are – from county fairs to summer camps to farms to pharmacies – to hear directly from folks about how corrupt politicians like Ashley Hinson have failed them and their communities.
