The Scoreboard: Fresh Off Another Debate Win, Josh Launches “At the Buzzer Tour,” Hinson Gets Slammed With Community Note for Epstein Files Cover-Up

TLDR: Josh kicked off his “At the Buzzer Tour” after crushing Tuesday’s debate; a flailing Hinson got hit with a community note after trying to hide the fact that she fought the release of the Epstein files

Des Moines, IA — Welcome back to The Scoreboard, a weekly recap of Iowa’s U.S. Senate Race where we keep the score of Josh’s wins, Ashley Hinson’s airballs, and the must-see moments as Team Turek plays ‘til the final buzzer on November 3rd.

At last week’s debate, Josh made it clear, yet again, that we have a corruption crisis that’s leading to an affordability crisis, and Ashley Hinson is part of it.

With early voting now underway, Josh will spend the final weeks of the campaign criss-crossing the state – just as he has for the last 400+ days – to meet Iowans where they are. On his “At the Buzzer Tour,” Josh will continue to hear directly from Iowans about how corrupt D.C. politicians like Ashley Hinson have hurt Iowa to enrich themselves and their billionaire donors.

🥇Gold Medal Moment: Josh spoke directly to Iowans about his commitment to working with anyone – including Trump – to lower costs, fight for health care, and make life easier for everyday Iowans – because he knows how it feels to struggle.

At Tuesday’s final IA-SEN debate, Ashley Hinson once again spent the hour dodging questions about her record and trying to hide the fact that she is a self-serving D.C. politician who has gotten up to 15x wealthier since getting to Congress.

Since then, Iowans have been hearing all about how Hinson said she would not vote to end the Iran war today, refused to admit she owns up to $5 million in private insurance stock, and has repeatedly hurt Iowans to enrich herself and her donors.

🎤 Commentators’ Debate Takes: During the debate, Josh made it clear to both national and state-wide political analysts that he will work with anyone – including Donald Trump – to deliver for Iowa, while Ashley Hinson will use her status to play political games.

  • KTIV: Those diesel prices have risen due to the conflict in Iran, now lasting over seven months. Turek pointed to Hinson’s record on voting to stop the conflict. Hinson has voted seven times against a war powers resolution that would force the president to halt military action in Iran… Hinson said she wants the war to end but would not reverse her votes.
  • New York Times: Hinson said she did not think another House resolution on restricting President Trump’s war powers was necessary, even though she has called for an “immediate and successful end” to the Iran war.
  • Des Moines Register: Turek pointed to Hinson’s financial disclosure form, which shows she holds between $1 million and $5 million in privately held stock in High Street Insurance Partners. “We have a corruption crisis leading to an affordability crisis because we’re sending people like Ashley Hinson up to D.C., not to fight for the people of Iowa but to go up there and to make themselves more wealthy and to look out for the billionaires,” he said.
  • KTVO: One of the many hospitals and clinics that have recently closed in the state was the MercyOne Ottumwa Family and Internal Medicine facility in February. “Just in the six years that Ashley Hinson has been up in DC, we’ve closed 842 health care entities,” said Rep. Turek. “With her vote on the Big Beautiful Bill, she has kicked 110,000 Iowans off their health care. In a state with a health care crisis and a cancer crisis, 119,000 Iowans are seeing their health care premiums double or triple.”
  • NewsNation: Turek has also sought to highlight areas where he says he could work with Republicans, including on border security. “I believe that we need to have safe and secure borders, and I will ensure that every Iowan and every American has safe and secure borders and safe communities, and I’m willing to work with anyone, including President Trump, on this issue,” Turek said.

▶️ Play of the Week: Josh spoke with Lawrence O’Donnell about how Iowans are feeling as we head into the final stretch of the campaign.

“Ashley Hinson is going out and cutting cancer research funding, health care clinics just to give tax breaks to billionaires. Iowans are upset. They don’t want someone to go up to the U.S. Senate just to make themselves 15 times more rich to look out for billionaires.

They want a common-sense prairie populist that’s going to go up there and fight for them.”

🎥 Highlight Reel: Josh launches his “At the Buzzer Tour” as early voting kicks off across Iowa and the countdown to November 3 begins.

Josh will spend the final weeks of the campaign criss-crossing the state – just as he has for the last 400+ days – to meet Iowans where they are. The statewide GOTV tour will include dozens of stops from river to river in the final weeks of the campaign – from football games to farms to senior homes to speedways – where Josh will hear directly from Iowans about how corrupt D.C. politicians like Ashley Hinson have hurt Iowa to enrich themselves and their billionaire donors.

🏀 Airball: “Community Note Smacks Down Ashley Hinson’s Epstein Files Claim”

In a desperate attempt to defend her failure to act on releasing the Epstein Files, Ashley Hinson released a new ad just hours before the final U.S. Senate debate on Tuesday trying to re-write her record. Iowans saw right through it thanks to a fact check community note:

“Hinson voted aye on the final Epstein Files Transparency Act but did not sign the discharge petition to force earlier consideration and voted yea on procedural motions that blocked related release efforts.”

It’s true. Ashley Hinson blocked the release of the Epstein files for months. Iowa parents have called Ashley Hinson’s efforts to block the release of the files “unsettling,” “disgusting,” and “disqualifying.”
