The Scoreboard: Josh Proposes Plan to Lower Gas Prices, Multi-Millionaire Hinson Votes for a 7th Time to Raise Them

Des Moines, IA — Welcome back to The Scoreboard, a weekly recap of Iowa’s U.S. Senate Race where we keep the score of Josh’s wins, Ashley Hinson’s airballs, and the must-see moments as Team Turek plays ‘til the final buzzer on November 3rd.

This week, Ashley Hinson voted for a seventh time to continue the Iran war and then left Washington for yet another extended vacation while gas prices continue to climb. Meanwhile, Josh rolled out a plan to provide immediate relief for Iowa families and farmers struggling under record-high gas and diesel prices.

🥇 Gold Medal Moment: Josh releases new plan to lower gas prices

After Ashley Hinson voted for the seventh time to continue the war in Iran – even as her Republican Iowa colleagues crossed the aisle to end the war – Josh Turek released a new plan to provide immediate relief for Iowa families and farmers amid the price surges stemming from Hinson’s votes.

Diesel in Iowa has hit a record high of more than $6 per gallon – up 58% since last year – just as peak harvest season hits. This increase will cost Iowa farmers thousands more to harvest their crops when they are already suffering from Hinson-backed tariffs that have raised input prices and wrecked markets. Last week alone, gas prices jumped 24 cents per gallon – and every day Iowans are feeling the squeeze: Iowa households have already paid an average of $516 more in gas alone since the war began and are experiencing higher inflation than other states. Ashley Hinson doesn’t care.

The kicker: The Big Oil companies that are seeing record profits as a result of the war have contributed more than $20,000 to Hinson’s U.S. Senate campaign.

Even worse: Congress recessed early, meaning Hinson headed home until Election Day without doing anything to address the rising fuel prices that are hammering Iowans.

▶️ Play of the Week: Josh Turek for Iowa releases new ad, “Underdog”

The new spot titled “Underdog” features Josh speaking directly to Iowans about his lifelong fight to ensure that all Iowans can afford the healthcare they need, fueled by his personal experience undergoing 21 surgeries by the age of 12.

🏀 Airball: “Ashley Hinson’s Net Worth Has Increased 15x Since Coming to Congress, Including Earning $1M Last Year From a Stock She Claimed Not To Have”

While Iowans struggle to afford the high prices that are a result of Hinson’s votes, new reporting from MeidasTouch News revealed that Hinson has boosted her net worth by up to 15 times since being elected to Congress.

Reporting from MeidasTouch found that “Ashley Hinson lied about selling all individual stock after being elected to Congress. In 2024 she listed individual private stock with unrealized gains worth up to $5 million as part of her overall net worth. In 2025, she listed income of up to $1 million from that same stock.”

Key Context: This is just the most recent example of Hinson increasing her wealth while Iowans suffer. This week, the Josh Turek for Iowa campaign released another ad, titled “C’mon,” that highlights Hinson’s habit of self-dealing, including the fact that she championed legislation that “benefits her own family fortune” and has raked in millions of dollars in campaign contributions from corporate PACs and lobbyists while repeatedly voting in their favor at the expense of working class Iowans.
